The APAS2024 conference, held in Canberra on 18-20 March 2024, was a great success at a fantastic venue with lots of opportunities for networking and interaction with the technical exhibitors. It attracted 155 delegates with 43% from private industry, and the conference theme "Pushing the Boundaries" was embraced with gusto by many.

Congratulations to Warren Thomas (formally NSW Public Works) for winning the Keith Haddon Memorial Prize for the best conference paper with “Henry, me and philosophy”.

I would like to take this opportunity to again thank all presenters and our gala dinner speaker Dr Brad Tucker for contributing to a very interesting and diverse program. We very much appreciate your efforts because without you we wouldn’t be able to organise such a successful event every year.

Thanks also to the APAS committee for their hard work in making this conference happen and run so smoothly. It takes a lot of effort behind the scenes and your dedication and enthusiasm are very much appreciated.

Last but not least, a big thank you to our brilliant photographer, Simon Hine, for his efforts in documenting the conference in pictures. Once the photos have been edited, they will be made available for download online for a limited time.

Next year’s conference, APAS2025, will be held in Lovedale in the Hunter Valley on 24-26 March 2025. Please save the date and consider volunteering yourself, a colleague or friend to present at APAS2025. To register your interest to present, please contact me. A call for abstracts will follow in due course.
